Archbishop Benson Idahosa was a total powerhouse in Christianity, a real trailblazer. Born in Benin City, Nigeria, he rose from humble roots to become a mega-popular Pentecostal preacher, teacher, author, and even businessman. This man was on fire for God, super passionate about helping people, and always fighting for what's right. He founded the Church of God Mission International (CGMI), and it blew up under his watch, becoming one of the biggest Pentecostal churches in Africa. He planted churches all over Nigeria and other African countries, like, thousands of them! He also started Bible schools, a university (Benson Idahosa University), and a hospital (Faith Mediplex). People flocked to his crusades and conferences, drawn in by his powerful sermons and the crazy healings that often happened. But Idahosa wasn't just about church stuff. He was a loud voice for social justice and economic empowerment, always challenging the powers that be and pushing for change. He also played a major role in the growth of Pentecostalism in Africa, inspiring and mentoring a whole new generation of church leaders. Even though he passed away, his legacy is still super strong. CGMI is still thriving, the institutions he started are doing great, and the countless lives he touched continue to feel his impact. He's remembered for his unshakable faith, his bold way of preaching the gospel, and his tireless work to make life better for others. His daughter Rantiade Benson-Idahosa @rebidahosa narrates - "The day was March 12, 1998. My father, #BensonIdahosa’s sudden death took us all by surprise but somehow, I think he knew. My mother, @margaretidahosa, parted with the love of her life and if you’ve been following my reels this week, you will understand why his transition was so challenging for her. But while mourning, she was appointed the presiding Bishop of @cgmiglobal. She has gone on to not only fill, but also stretch my father’s shoes. We are so proud of you, Mama. Fam, what part of the story surprised you?" She continues, "Grateful for the opportunity to put words behind this painful season endured by my mother, @margaretidahosa (and so many others), who went through infertility challenges and was shamed and ridiculed.
