I haven't been able to download the week's rescues and work from my video glasses so I've rustled up this footage from Parramatta Park Flying-Fox colony which hangs out by the river. When I was there dropping some stuff to a carer to Mandi, who is driving up to see her this week, I got to check out the colony, which seems to have so many really little juveniles who are too small for this time of the year. I can't hear any babies in the colony, and I can't see any babies on Mumbats, even with binoculars, or if they're flying over. It's good that the season hasn't started yet, and it's so wrong that there are so many little juvies at this time of the year. Since I haven't been able to sort out my vid glasses issues and my usual IT gurus are both overseas, I thought I'd add some teat making video clips to the entertain you. Baby season is rapidly approaching so I make teats for sale to other carers and groups. I like to make coloured teats, which are so useful if you have multiple babies because you can colour code them and give them the dummy shapes (pacifiers) they like and you always know which one is theirs, as do anyone who comes over to help with the feeds. Maggie is overseas for another month, so it's going to be a difficult season logistically for me, which will make things a little more random than plan-able. Whatever you do, don't ask me what I use to colour the latex... Tolga Bat Hospital takes donations for me. Tolga is an awesome place in Far North Queensland, which has charity status. By sending donations to them, they get a percentage (and deserve every cent) and they can allocate money to me for batty expenses without it becoming part of my income stream (which makes tax time difficult). https://tolgabathospital.org/donate/ Mention Megabattie or Meg in the PayPal message box and the money will find its way to me. If no message box appears, please email Jenny to tell her that the money is for me. IMPORTANT: If you pay through the PayPal Giving Fund, can you please email Jenny with the AMOUNT DONATED and the name under which you have donated, OR just forward along the PP receipt. The Giving Fund doesn’t charge any fees (so the bats get more money) but PP doesn’t itemise out the amount, they just send a total every month, and we don’t know if the money is for Tolga or for Megabattie. Here’s Jenny’s email. jenny@tolgabathospital.org
