My seven-year-old aunt was not as fortunate, betrayed by nuns at a Catholic orphanage in Slovakia and sent to Auschwitz, where she perished. This video documents my walk through Auschwitz-Birkenau, one of history's darkest places. You'll see the preserved barracks, the haunting chimneys, and the barbed wire fences that imprisoned over a million people. My grandfather, from Nitra, Slovakia, evaded capture for years through his connections to the Esterhazy family. When he was finally taken near the war's end, his welding skills saved his life and he was transferred to work at Buchenwald. It was there, among fellow prisoners, that he learned his daughter's fate. This isn't an easy video to watch, and it wasn't easy to make. But these stories must be told.
