Chad Kenyon Balayage Artist & Hair Colorist here! I had the pleasure of doing singer/songwriter Emma Rena's hair color MAKEOVER with a very special contribution from Celebrity Hairstylist Alan Martinez. We documented the entire process at The Benjamin Salon in Los Angeles. I make sure that my clients ALWAYS have a pre-BALAYAGE haircut so we started off with Alan's signature sexy haircut. This allowed me to paint on top of the incredible texture Alan created. A good haircut and good balayage ALWAYS compliment each other. MY BALAYAGE FORMULATION : ◆ 1 ounce Solaris Powder Lightener with 40 volume developer to a yogurt-like consistency. (I wanted a 30 volume effect so I used 40 volume as Olaplex slightly dilutes the potency of lightener) THEN, I added in 1/16 ounce of OLAPLEX Nº1. This allows me to rebuild bonds while lifting. It also richens up the consistency of the lightner and creates an ideal texture for painting gorgeous balayage. *Processing Time : Rinse when desired lightness is achieved. NOTE: I am a Balayage artist yet I will occasionally foil a section of painted Balayage if I'm wanting to add a touch of depth variety within the Balayage OR (in this case) when I want to push through a previous unknown color formula. Emma had leftover haircolor on the ends and I wanted to make sure it didn't hinder my process. Good placement is key to beautiful balayage, and requires: A) Knowledge of FACIAL STRUCTURE (Great balayage/haircolor is an extension of facial features & makeup, and has the power to transform). B) A clear vision of the end result before starting. MY GLOSS FORMULATION: ◆ DIA LIGHT : 1/2 tube of 9.02 + 1/4 tube 9.03 + 1/2 tube Dia Light CLEAR + 2.6 ounces of L'Oreal Dia Activateur creme peroxide 6 volume. Combining DiaLight with 6 volume developer allows the formulation to literally RESURFACE the hair by truly smoothing down the cuticle. THEN add in 1/4 ounce of Olaplex Nº1. OLAPLEX for the INSIDE & DIA LIGHT for the OUTSIDE! *Processing Time : 10 minutes AFTER ALL OF THE CHEMICAL PROCEDURES, I rinsed (no shampoo yet), towel dried, & applied OLAPLEX Nº2 roots through ends for 10 minutes. THEN, rinse, shampoo-condition. ___________________________________ Hola, soy Chad Kenyon, Artista Balayage y Colorista de Cabello. Tuve el placer de crear una nueva imagen para la cantante Emma Rena. Alan Martínez le dio un corte de cabello y yo le hice balayage (mechas californianas) con Olaplex . Todo el proceso lo hicimos en la peluquería BENJAMIN de Los Angeles. Yo prefiero que mis clientas tengan un buen corte de cabello ANTES de nuestra sesión de balayage porque la textura de un buen corte de cabello es ideal para pintar mechas/rayitos Balayage. MI FORMULACIÓN de BALAYAGE: ◆ 1 onza Aclarante Solaris en polvo con peróxido 40 (Quería un efecto de peróxido 30 por lo cual, utilicé "40" ya que Olaplex reduce la potencia del aclarante). Después: añadí 1/16 onze de OLAPLEX Nº1. OLAPLEX Nº1 me permite reconectar enlaces desulfuro durante el proceso de aclaración de cabello. De vez en cuando, cubro piezas de cabello pintada de Balayage con papel de aluminio si quiero crear variedad, profundidad y contraste de color, o en este caso, quiero aclarar un cabello que ha sido previamente teñido con tintura/formula desconocida. Buena colocación y distribución es clave para crear buen Balayage. Esto requiere: A) Conocimiento de la estructura facial (buen Balayage es un gran complemento para la imagen y tiene el poder de transformación). MI FORMULACION para DEMI-PERMANENTE: ◆ DIA LIGHT : 1/2 tubo de 9.02 + 1/4 tubo de 9.03 + 1/2 tubo de Dia Light CLEAR-Trasparente + 2.6 onzas de L'Oreal Dia Activateur creme peroxide 6 volumen. DESPUÉS añadí 1/4 onza de Olaplex Nº1. *Tiempo para Procesar : 10 minutos DESPUÉS de todos los procedimientos químicos, enjuagué el cabello de Emma y sequé suavemente con una toalla para aplicar el Olaplex Nº2 que sigue el trabajo de Olaplex Nº1 pero esta vez en todo el cabello.
