The Wild Lady | Loch Swim (12.8km)

On Saturday 26th August 2017 the brothers completed a 12.8km swim, the full length of Loch Broom, in the Scottish Highlands. They did the swim in memory of their Grandma Wild and also wanted to raise awareness about the plight of the Scottish Wildcat with Scottish Wildcat Action. They were joined in the water by Norman and Colin, a whole host of happy lochsiders, old friends, new friends, cousins, aunties and uncles, girlfriends and mum. As they set off from Ullapool harbour the sunlight streamed across the loch illuminating the water. They swam past colossal Lions Mane Jellyfish and were joined by seals and porpoises. With every single stroke they drew closer to the church at the bottom of the loch where their Grandma Wild is buried. The 13 degree water was icy cold but the Celtic weather gods were smiling all the way to the end. Finally, after a quick bacon butty and coffee Calum said a few words and laid a wreath made of seaweed, heather and wildflowers on Grandma Wild's grave.
