This project started after I met the designer behind byVINNIK at a pop-up shop. After beading one of her coats and visiting her showroom in LA, she gave me a haul of her fabric scraps. These boots are the first piece of that series. I found the suede boots in a pay-by-the-pound bin. They were brand new but beat up from the bins, so I used the beadwork to camouflage the nicks and scuffs. Because this specific byVINNIK print looks like organic paint strokes, I couldn't use my usual rows of beads—I had to hand-place every single bead one-by-one to keep the integrity of the design. It took about 150 hours to get these finished, including a late-stage pivot to bead the interior of the heels because the fabric was too porous for any other product. This is the first of many pieces using these prints. #Beadwork #byVINNIK #Handmade #Process #1of1 #BeadArtist
