Tokyo rose, also known as Orphan Ann the voice behind the the popular radio station that broadcast in short wave. The objective of this broadcast is to spread Japanese propaganda to allied troops stationed throughout the Pacific. It turned out to be wildly popular among the servicemen as they play great Jazz, blues and big band numbers. Ironically this ended up being a source of comfort to the men and women serving thousands of miles from home. Tokyo rose, traitor or an innocent bystander to be unfortunate enough to catch herself in a situation that saw herself a reluctant participant in a world at war. Found guilty of aiding the enemy of her own nation, she was locked up in prison after the was. The whole charge and sentence was not without controversy as many believe that she had not done anything that deserves the reputation of such a sigma and sentence. On the other hand some argue that she sometimes made special efforts to spread coded message of importance to the American soldiers listening. This broadcast, dated 14th August 1944, recorded at the studio in Tokyo. Is a free to air piece taken from the internet archives. and featuring the Glenn Miller orchestra. I hope you will enjoy this, and if you want more of these content please like, share and subscribe, and I'll put up a regular playlist of these forgotten tunes.
