To aid in this challenge Jon Tang, creative director of FRONTEER, explains the intricacies involved when designing and making a sneaker from scratch. With help from fashion designer Mike Cherman, the pair examine the necessary steps from initial ideation and sketching to the accompanying “Tech Pack”–a factory legible translation of the freehand sketches that contains the necessary data when it comes to scale, all the angles and views, a material map that lays out the foundation for textures and make up and more.
