Bio by She Rox All Female Bands: Detroit, Michigan based trio Broadzilla began in 1996 by founder, lead guitarist and lead vocalist Rachel May. Rachel along with bassist Michelle Chapman, Jen Moffit on drums, and Marlene Hammerle on guitar quickly released their self titled Ep as well in 1996, this Ep quickly gained the band local attention for their fast paced metal tinged punk rock full of attitude that some said rivaled L7. Drummer Angie Manly would replace Jen Moffit in 1997 and after a string of second guitarist replacements Melody Baetens would fill the spot by 1999 in time for the band's first full length album 1999's "Broadzilla V.s The Tramp-o-Lean", however by 2000 only a year after the release bassist Michelle Chapman would be replaced by Kim Essiambre and guitarist Melody Baetens left the line up leaving the band to remain a trio ,she would later resurface in the Detroit based garage rock all female band, The Gore Gore Girls, the remaining members reformed and at the height of their popularity, the band released "Lady Luck" in 2001, fueled by the lead single "Ecstasy" which showed the trio was full on rock attitude and proved at this point the band's local scene was conquered and now were gaining national attention with the help of numerous tours that included a tour of England. Broadzilla would continue to tour and won numerous local music awards into the late 2000's and released a second Ep in 2002. Broadzilla continues to play to current day and although not as often, has not stopped the band from evolving into cult status, for those unfortunate enough to have missed them in their hey day and many will find the bands's releases to be collector 's items and hard to find as most are out of print leaving new and die hard fans hoping for a full time return from Detroit's rock queens. *Bite The Apple from the 1999 album Broadzilla Vs.
