The FMS 'Viper' 70mm EDF jet has an 1100mm wingspan, runs a 12 blade 70mm fan with a 1900KV inrunner and 80A ESC on a 6S 3300mAh LiPo, and is setup with flaps, retracts, rudder, and eight metal gear digital servos making for a 1.8kg flying weight. Flight Review: Conditions were perfect with zero wind, and I took off to the south smoothly before banking into the circuit. I kept the jet low and flew controlled figure eight patterns, circuits, and a few clean passes. Everything felt solid, and I deliberately kept the flight short so I could check the battery and work on touch and goes. The first touch and go was textbook, smooth and stable with full control. The second was not as clean, with a heavy bounce on touchdown. Around the four minute mark the nose of the aircraft starts to appear in frame, which showed the canopy was no longer properly secured. I was unaware of this at the time, but I kept all maneuvers to positive G only, which prevented it from departing in flight. On final landing, despite calm conditions, I came in slightly off angle and the touchdown was firm. That was enough to dislodge the cockpit and camera completely. You can see the exact moment it ejects to the left as the jet settles and rolls out onto the grass. Fortunately, the aircraft itself remained intact and under control. This was a clear reminder to always double check canopy security before flight, as even a calm day and controlled flying can expose a weak latch.
