Meet Tommy, an organic beef and sheep farmer in Castlegregory, Co. Kerry, whose land stretches from mountain commonage to rare coastal machair. He keeps heritage Dexter cattle and hardy hill sheep, but it’s how he farms — not just what he farms — that’s changing the conversation. In an area seeing an increasing amount of land abandonment, Tommy has been diversifying the farm to ensure he can transition from a part-time to a full-time living off his 40 hectares. He has been using the Bokashi method in his winter housing to reduce ammonia and prevent infection in livestock. Quick to innovate and diversify, he uses conservation grazing to support the rare nature in this region of Co. Kerry. Tommy’s regenerative approach proves that nature-friendly farming is not just possible — it works. Herbal leys, pond habitats for the rare Natterjack toad and a deep respect for the land — this is regenerative farming in action. 🔔 Subscribe for more real stories of farmers building soil, boosting resilience, and bringing life back to the land. #RegenerativeFarming #OrganicBeef #Bokashi #FarmingForNature #DexterCattle #Biodiversity #Ireland
