Moderator Professor Roger Benjamin (US Studies Centre and the Department of Art History and Film Studies, University of Sydney), and panellists Julie Rrap (artist), Lieven Bertels (former Artistic Director, Sydney Festival), Simon Castets (New York based curator) explore the 13 Rooms exhibition in the context of performance in visual art. 'Visual Art Performance and the Impact of 13 Rooms' is the first panel discussion in a forum presented in collaboration with the US Studies Centre, University of Sydney. ABOUT The '13 Rooms and the Time of Performance' forum features internationally renowned commentators reflecting on the event as it nears its close. 13 Rooms, described by co-curator Hans Ulrich Obrist as an exhibition "in which the sculptures go home at 7pm each night", engages with the experience of time on many levels. Three works were first performed over three decades ago and are presented in 're-performance' mode; others deal with the apparent suspension of duration, or with rhythmic and dynamic movement. Join experts from the theatre, performance studies, art history, criticism and curating spheres to explore the experience of the performances and audiences in this lively interdisciplinary discussion.
