On The Road Again April 2025 (229) Flinders Ranges, Rawnsley Bluff, Pine Cave & Arkaroo Art Rock

I happen to wake up at 1:30am and look outside and so glad I did to capture the amazing night sky full of stars. Today we explore the rest of Alison’s Saddle to Pine Cave, the views are spectacular, there are a few large Ant nests to navigate though and they weren’t happy… then we set off to a gorgeous hike up to Arkaroo Art rock and this was absolutely stunning with the backdrop of Wilpena Pound. The colours of the rock were beautiful and the well preserved artwork was the best we’ve ever seen. The paintings are a mixture of charcoal and white and red ochre, apparently they tell the story of Wilpena pound. They are thought to be over 5,000 years old and a place of great significance to the Adnyamathanha people. We certainly could have sat and admired the artwork for hours, it was a very calming place. Karmonajourney as we continue to explore the wilderness of the Flonders Ranges.
