In this video, Odi and I head out for a solo quiet winter overnight camp along a remote Montana river, with some light rain moving in overnight. There isn’t as much snow as there should be for this time of year, which feels strange for Montana, but we’re still hoping for a few more good storms before spring officially takes over. We set up camp by the water, cook chicken sausage tortellini as the river moves beside us, and settle in for the night with the sound of rain on the roof and the current flowing beside camp. By morning, we’re making huckleberry pancakes on the tailgate, coffee in hand, while the wind howls through camp. This is what I love about getting out in Montana — slowing down, kicking the feet up, and enjoying simple moments in wild places.
