At approximately 2:18 AM, Officer J. Perry initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Christian A. Pinkney for an expired registration tag. During contact, Pinkney explained he had completed his emissions test but had not yet traveled to Gwinnett County to renew his tag. While speaking with him, Officer Perry noticed the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. When questioned, Pinkney admitted he was a marijuana user but denied possessing any drugs at the time. He also stated there were no weapons in the vehicle. After requesting consent to search, Pinkney hesitated briefly but ultimately agreed to the search. During the inspection, Officer Perry located: A small bag of marijuana Several THC-infused gummies in commercial packaging A Ziploc bag containing suspected ecstasy pills No weapons were discovered. Pinkney was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Carroll County Jail. During booking, the suspect—identified as a University of West Georgia student—declined to answer further questions regarding the narcotics’ origin and ceased cooperation.
