English subtitles available – Tram traffic on Zeppelinbrücke, Leipzig, during construction work in 2024 – Since summer of 2024 the bridge Zeppelinbrücke in Leipzig (federal state of Saxony, Germany) is undergoing reconstruction.The bridge is more than 100 years old. Several damages have to be repaired. On top bicycle lanes will also be established side to side with the car lanes. Tram tracks will be laid new so that wider trams can be used on this route. Starting in 2026, trams will be used on line 15 that are currently developed under the name of "Sächsische Plattform". Those vehicles will be 2.4 meters wide. Thus the tracks have to be repositioned with a wider space between them. During the time of construction work tram traffic will pass over the bridge on a single track for most of the time.
