Gdańsk Christmas Market 2025 is one of the most magical winter events in Poland and now officially holds the title of Best Christmas Market in Europe. After winning first place in the European Best Destinations competition, the market attracts visitors from all over the world who come to experience its unique charm, festive atmosphere, and historic setting. The heart of the market is Targ Węglowy, a beautiful square framed by the Great Armoury, old city walls and theatres. The event runs from 21 November to 23 December 2025 and offers free entry. More than one hundred events, themed areas, live shows and attractions create a true Christmas town in the middle of Gdańsk. The colourful opening parade begins at the Advent Gate, officially welcoming guests into the festive season. The market is known for its impressive scale. Visitors can explore illuminated alleys, taste food from twenty two countries, enjoy music and theatre performances, and discover photo spots designed for capturing the perfect holiday moment. Families can try interactive attractions, including a VR paragliding experience, while younger guests enjoy animations and character meetings. Light installations play a major role. As part of the Gdańskie Iluminacje project, special arches, sculptures and decorations transform the old town into a glowing winter landscape. The illuminated Great Armoury and rows of wooden stalls create one of the most iconic views of Christmas in Gdańsk. Each day of the week has its own theme: Insta Mondays for photos, Theatre Tuesdays for performances, Wednesdays of Great Talents for youth groups, Family Thursdays for games, Musical Fridays for concerts and festive weekends full of shows, workshops and charity events like Adopt a Teddy Bear. Food and handicrafts are a core part of the experience. The Smaki Pomorza event highlights regional producers offering cheeses, cold cuts, sweets and handmade products. In the craft zone you can find local decorations, ceramics, jewellery, toys and natural cosmetics. The best stalls compete for the Grand Prix of the Christmas Market in categories such as Good Idea and Good Taste. Although the stalls close on 23 December, the Christmas lights continue to shine, keeping the festive spirit in the city.
