A Cab Ride in a Vintage, Historic Locomotive

We hop aboard this vintage, historic locomotive on the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad as we ride from the World Famous Horseshoe Curve to almost Needleton below the scenic Chicago Basin. We board this ALCO DL535E... Wait... A DIESEL?!?!? That's not vintage! Well, yes, I mean, we're calling stuff from when I was born in the 1980s and when I grew up in the 1990s as "Vintage", and at over fifty years old, you can call them historic as well. Just not historic to these rails. Join me as we ride with Kylah and Mike (both do-it-all railroaders of this line from shoveling coal to running locomotives to working in the shop, though Mike has ran Amtrak's 'Southwest Chief' on the other end of the railroad from me) as we cling to cliffs, skirt icy frozen stretches of the Wild and Scenic Animas River, and even hit torpedos (What? Like submarines? No... Like the 2025 Yankee's bats? No...)... No Railroad Torpedos used to tell trains that there's another train or danger ahead since this line has no 'Distant Signal' or any other signaling system in use (so don't be worried about there being a 'Delay In Block' situation). We're in the cab as (almost) 100-year-old Baldwin-built K-36 # 482 steams past us with train 261, and even a rogue former White Pass and Yukon sister meets us at Cascade Wye in the canyon under Purgatory Ski Area.
