With rapid developments of data science, the greater availability of data and increased computer processing power, algorithms have become part of many spheres of our lives and work, including in peacebuilding and conflict prevention work. The “algo age” brought with it many technical, legal, and ethical questions that exceeded the scope of existing peacebuilding and peacetech ethics frameworks. This module raises awareness about these risks, and advises on how to apply tools to mitigate them by transferring ethical principles into practice to ensure that “AI ethics by design” is a first step and not an afterthought in AI for peace projects’ development and implementation. ...
