Once by chance, we were passing by the market place at noon when we heard a loud poodle. a man is tying up tiny puppies more than a month old. He's selling them. The mother dog was sold by him, now only puppies. Poor dogs will be sold to dog meat stalls. We bought those puppies back and advised him not to do so. But he couldn't promise us it, because he made a living and he needed money. In our country it's not illegal to slaughter dogs and eat meat, so there's nothing we can do about it...
