ACS-AEI: Enhancing Surgical Practice with Simulation-Based Education

The American College of Surgeons Accredited Education Institutes (ACS-AEI) offer state-of-the-art, simulation-based surgical education and training at regional levels to address the ongoing training and assessment needs of surgeons throughout their careers. These accredited institutes provide practicing surgeons, surgery residents, medical students, members of the surgical team, and other health care professionals with the opportunity to participate in programs in a controlled, risk-free environment to acquire skills in new procedures and emerging technologies and to refresh their skills in procedures they infrequently perform. Fellows discuss how ACS-AEIs have enhanced their surgical careers and how these centers continue to set standards for how surgical education and training should be offered across the nation.
