How to get balcony and terrace drainage right. (Designing to BS8579:2020 standard code of practice)

This Video sets out the different drainage requirements which are part of the balcony-specific guidance of BS8579:2020. The video has been created along with members who are part of the BSI Committee to accurately demonstrate the clauses and diagrams in a simple to understand way. The video shows four scenarios of balconies/terraces and the guidance and code requirements for: Projecting cantilever balconies (both pipe drainage and edge drained) Balconies above the entrances of a building Balconies Inset or recessed into the building facade or where they are adjacent to a vertical facade surface. Where balconies drain above a vertical wall surface of the facade. for example where it is above a warm space or a terrace area.
