This was the saddest day of the NBA season. Wemby just sent a message to the entire league! And we had a bunch of thriller endings in Detroit, Chicago and Orlando. So, buckle up cuz we’re starting off with a bang! Cooper Flagg had Mavs fans jumping out of their seats at the start of the game. He led his team to a 15 point lead in the 2nd quarter. But, the Warriors had mean plans on how to spoil the house party for the high flying rookie. The Dubs ramped up the pace on defense which got them some easy buckets in transition. And in a blink of an eye we had ourselves a tight ball game. Finishing the 3rd on a high note, the Warriors made sure to keep the same energy in the final period as well. Golden State executed an electric 13 to 3 run to go up by 10 points at the start of the 4th. They had 8 players scoring in double digits, to match up against Cooper Flagg who basically was left all alone when it mattered the most. Coop got the Mavs down to a 2 point deficit with his 32nd point of the night, 18 of which came in the 2nd half. And with 3 guys on him in the clutch, he made the right play to find Max Christie in the corner for the splash and the tie, amazing. The entire arena was ready to erupt when he intercepted the pass by Draymond, buut… It wasn’t traveling, but it was a double dribble for sure. And it’s remarkable to me how Dallas managed to defend themselves on the next possession. Tell me this is not Ben Simmons like play. It’s right there Draymond, why pass the ball!?? Eventually, he loses the jump ball as well, giving the Mavs a chance to win the game. Look at Flagg smiling and pumping up Marshall while he’s in a shooting motion, confident it’s all over. But nah, Naji misses the wide open 3 and we go to overtime. So, when you miss an opportunity like that, the punishment usually waits around the corner. GP puts the Dubs up by 7 points. And with Flagg losing the ball a minute later it was all over for the Mavs. But unfortunately, it was all over for Moses Moody as well. Ooooh that didn’t look good at all. Just when he was about to put the cherry on top of a great performance, Moody goes down with a scary knee injury and has to be carried off the court in a stretcher. Damn, another huge blow for an already depleted roster for Golden State. This gotta be the saddest day of the season for Dubs fans. They’ve won the game but the bitter taste in their mouths is going to last. And the Pacers were hoping that their 12 point lead would last until the final buzzer against Orlando, especially with 3 minutes left on the clock. But the Magic thought otherwise. A 9-0 blitz by Orlando got the game within a single possession. Let’s go! Andrew Nembhard cooled down the building a little bit with his 3 pointer right here, but Paolo Banchero was adamant to keep his team in the game. Banchero draws the foul and stays cool under pressure to knock down both free throws, cutting the deficit to 2 with his 39th point of the night. Pascal Siakam on the other end, goes all in hoping to put the dagger in Orlando’s heart, but his shot rolls out of the rim and both Banchero and Nesmith go diving on the floor for the loose ball. So, the Magic has to win the jump ball if they want to keep their hopes alive. 1st task checked! Now they’re left with the more challenging one, and that is to score a tiebreaker or go for the win! Woow, Banchero does a great move, spinning along the baseline but gets rejected at the rim by both Siakam and Jay Huff. Spicy P redeemed himself for the previous play to finally snap a 16 game losing streak for Indiana. In Detroit, Luka and the Lakers started off hot, hoping to extend their winning streak to 10 games. Doncic was so happy they got his last tech rescinded that he filled up the Pistons basket with 17 of his 32 points in the 1st quarter already. However, while he was out in the 2nd period, the Pistons quickly flipped the script in their favor. #nba #lebronjames #lakers
