Jurgen Karl Rudolph is a retired lawyer and judge in Germany. He and his colleagues founded the Cochem Model for courts to use in high conflict divorce cases involving children. At the core of the model lies the principle that every child deserves uninterrupted access to both parents and the opportunity for a continuing relationship with the non-residential parent and their extended family. Parents should receive comprehensive support to foster responsible, independent parenthood, enabling them to make decisions together for their children. It is their duty to engage in any necessary interventions. Expediting legal proceedings is crucial, as early intervention is the most effective means to prevent harmful outcomes such as parental alienation or the loss of familial connections. A mutually beneficial resolution for the entire family, particularly for the children, should be developed through interdisciplinary collaboration involving all parties.
