Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia October 26, 2025 Following the opening ceremony of the 47th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and Related Summits, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. engages in a discussion with fellow ASEAN Leaders during the Plenary Session at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC) in Malaysia on October 26, 2025. During the Session, Leaders tackle crucial issues related to ASEAN’s community-building and external relations, including ways to deepen regional integration, stimulate economic growth and enhance the Region’s connectivity. Leaders also discuss efforts to reinforce ASEAN unity and centrality, as well as to strengthen the regional bloc’s commitment to a rules-based multilateral order in the evolving global geostrategic landscape. One of the main events during the Plenary Session is the Handover Ceremony of the Second Protocol to Amend the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement (ATIGA). It is a free trade agreement (FTA) that seeks to facilitate the movement of goods within the Region by reducing and removing tariffs and non-tariff barriers. For the Philippines, President Marcos Jr. reaffirms the country’s commitment to a future-ready ASEAN and acknowledges the nation’s responsibility to lead the initial year of implementing the strategic plans for ASEAN 2045. * * Connect with RTVM Website: http://rtvm.gov.ph Facebook: www.facebook.com/presidentialcom and www.facebook.com/rtvmalacanang YouTube: @RTVMalacanang Tiktok: @RTVMalacanang
