Oahu in 5 Days – Is This the Best First Island in Hawaii? This is Part 1 of my 3‑part series answering one of Hawaii’s most asked questions: “Which island should I visit?” In this episode we spend 5 days on Oahu, exploring Waikiki, hiking famous ridges, chasing turtles on the North Shore, and visiting places I’ve dreamed about since I was a kid. If you’re planning a first trip to Hawaii and wondering if Oahu is the right island for you, this vlog will show you exactly what it’s like. What we did in Oahu • Waikiki Beach – sunset walks, beginner‑friendly surf, and city‑plus‑beach vibes. A great base with tons of food, shopping, and nightlife options. • Diamond Head State Monument – classic crater hike with panoramic views over Honolulu and Waikiki; short but steep, and worth the early wake‑up or sunset walk. • Kualoa Ranch – “Jurassic Park” scenery, movie sites, and adventure tours in one of the most dramatic valleys on the island. • North Shore Road Trip • Famous shrimp trucks on the way up • Waimea Bay and the surrounding beaches • Laniakea “Turtle” Beach, where Hawaiian green sea turtles often rest on the sand (always keep a respectful distance, they’re protected). • Ho’omaluhia Botanical Garden – that dreamy, lush valley backdrop I’ve wanted to see since I was a kid, plus peaceful walks among tropical plants. Places we missed but YOU shouldn’t : Hanauma Bay – one of Oahu’s best snorkeling spots, with clear water and plenty of reef fish (you need a reservation and there’s an entrance fee, so make sure to book in advance). Nuʻuanu Pali Lookout – a quick stop with powerful winds and sweeping views of Oahu’s east side. Kāneʻohe Sandbar – a sandbar that appears in the middle of the bay at low tide; you get there by boat or kayak and it’s a unique place to swim and hang out. We visited outside whale season, but if you’re coming in winter you can: Go whale watching from December to April (peak Jan–Mar) on tours from Waikiki, Ko Olina, or the west side to see migrating humpback whales. Snorkel with turtles and tropical fish year‑round at spots like Hanauma Bay, Turtle Canyon, and parts of the North Shore. Is Oahu the right island for you? In this video I’ll share: What we loved and what we’d skip next time Who Oahu is perfect for (first‑timers, non‑drivers, people who want nightlife + nature) How it compares to Maui and Kauai, which we’ll cover in Part 2 and Part 3 of this series Extra tips for driving, parking, and avoiding crowds If you’re choosing between Oahu, Maui, Kauai, and Big Island, follow the whole series—at the end we’ll rank all big four islands to help you decide where to spend your time. 📺 Watch next (when they’re live): • Part 2 – Maui: Is It Worth the Hype? • Part 3 – Kauai vs Big Island & Our Hawaii Island Ranking 👍 If this helped you plan your trip, please like the video, subscribe, and tell me in the comments which Hawaiian island you’re most excited about. #Oahu #HawaiiTravel #Waikiki #NorthShore #KualoaRanch #Hoomaluhia #HawaiiVacation #WhichIslandToVisit Join this channel to get access to perks like private calls for itineraries: / @hiliadventures
