Yousuf Bashir Qureshi’s talents and passions range from fashion design, photography and painting, to food science and farming. He is a flag bearer of a great legacy A graduate from the University Of Nebraska in Food science, Qureshi has garbed celebrities such as Sheryl Crow, Angelina Jolie, and Denzel Washington, and Madonna, and designed special long jacket for the lead cast Keanu Reeves of the famous Hollywood film The Matrix. He is also an avid photographer and a gardener. Qureshi eventually returned to Pakistan in 2002 to start his label YBQ, that is based out of Karachi. Commune is situated in Sadiq Godown, a colony of old warehouses. The sounds and lights of urban Karachi and the colours and chaos of Miskeen Gali, surround it. Commune Artist Colony, founded by Yousuf Bashir Qureshi, is a creative gathering space for talented artists, filmmakers, musicians, fashion designers or for any other aspect of visual and performing arts. The agenda is the promotion of visual and performing arts and strengthening of the artist community in Karachi and beyond. Commune provides an alternative exhibit and performing space to artists as well as a platform for discussion. The colony in Miskeen Gali, aims to become a center point for art and art related activities. Interactive studios, exhibits and performances are a regular feature at Commune.
