Jiayu S3 is the most advanced Jiayu phone to date. 10 months ago, I would call it phablet, but today most of the line leaders have 5.5” or even bigger screens. I've just launched the new site, devoted to mobile electronics. Wellcome: http://androidtablets.com.ua/ And you can read my complete text review of Jiayu S3: English version: http://androidtablets.com.ua/?p=193 Russian version: http://androidtablets.com.ua/?p=275 As usually, the phone is bought on Spemall. I’ve got the standard 2 Gb RAM version on test: http://www.spemall.com/JIAYU-S3-4G-SM... But, there is also advanced 3 Gb version, which also supports NFC and only a bit more expensive: http://www.spemall.com/JIAYU-S3-Advan... You can also use the coupon, which Spemall gave me for my YouTube channel: “mykolaspe” It is a 3% coupon for any order above $100 (or $60? I don’t quite remember :). With this coupon, you can get Jiayu S3 2 Gb for less than $175 shipped. Technical specs: CPU: MTK6752, Cortex A53 ARM v8 64-bit, 8 cores, up to 1690 MHz (1859 MHz) GPU: Mali-T760MP2, 700 MHz RAM: 2 Gb / 3 Gb Flash memory: 16 Gb SIM cards: 2 MicroSIM cards Phone: GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz, WCDMA 900/1900/2100MHZ + TD-SCDMA, FDD-LTE B3/B7/B20 + TD-LTE Screen: 5.5 inches, FullHD 1080x1920, IPS OGS Touchscreen: capacitive, support 10 touches NFC: supported only in Advanced 3 Gb version Cameras: frontal 5 Mp, back 13 Mp, Sony IMX214 1/3.06 image sensor, autofocus and dual LED flash, FullHD video. Dimensions: 152x75.5x8.9 mm Weight: 160 g including battery Battery: 3000 mAh OS: Android 4.4.4, will be upgraded to Android 5.0 soon Language support: a complete set of Android interface languages, 60 languages. The battery is good, with real 3000 mAh capacity. So you may expect at least 4-5 hours of 3D gaming, 8-10 hours of video, YouTube or web browsing, or up to 15 hours of book reading. The battery life seriously depends on the screen brightness, so I’d recommend you to set minimal comfortable brightness to improve the battery life. If the minimal brightness is too high for you, use this program to lower it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/de... Don’t forget to enable Superuser in Security settings before using it. The phone comes with customized Android 4.4.4, which will be soon upgraded to Android 5.0. The phone was tested with this firmware: http://www.needrom.com/download/jy-s3... But you may try the other customs too. Benchmark results: AnTuTu Benchmark 5.6.1 - around 40300 points Vellamo: Multicore - 1632, Metal - 1124, Chrome Browser – 2955 (!). 3DMark Unlimited (720p) - 10730 points Epic Citadel: 39.2 FPS (1920x1080, Ultra High Quality) Drawbacks of Jiayu S3: poor set (only one battery, charger and data cable, documentation, that's all), light sensor and compass are not perfectly stable (maybe will be corrected by the future firmware), released with Android 4.4.4, which doesn’t completely support the 64-processors, touchscreen doesn’t like low quality chargers, the potential of main camera is not yet disclosed. Advantages of Jiayu S3: great 5.5" 1080x1920 IPS LED OGS screen, powerful and power efficient ARM v8 Cortex A53 64-bit Mediatek MTK6752 octa core 1.69 GHz, powerful and modern ARM Mali-T760MP2 700 MHz GPU, great overall performance (over 40000 AnTuTu and over 10700 3DMark Unlimited, comparable with Samsung Galaxy S5), nice 5 Mp frontal and 13 Mp Sony IMX214 dual LED flash back cameras, 2 (or 3) Gb RAM, 2 SIM cards, good design (at least, I like it), build quality and materials, metal frame, many custom firmwares, good community, many sensors, notification led, great Wi-Fi and GPS, OTG support, good 3000 mAh battery, support a lot of WCDMA and FDD-LTE bands, 2 main speakers and 2 microphones, comparatively small and light (160 g) for 5.5” screen. So, I can say the phone is great, especially for the money. I hope, that the next review will be released much sooner than this one. It is not easy to review devices, if you have a full scale war 200 kilometers away, you know :( But let’s hope for better. Now I’m thinking of reviewing a nice budgetary Jiayu F2 and advanced Elephone P7000. Leave comments, if you are interested in these devices, or propose your variants. You may get some additional information (like full size photos) about this phone from my text review. I'll add the link soon. That's it for today, thank you for attention. P.S. Robots are going to conquer the Earth :). Google deleted the song in the YouTube test, just where I wanted to test the speakers, because of copyright issues.
