I already knew what I was getting into. The white wood of Eastern Red Cedar bow drills pretty well. It’s the red resinous wood that is difficult. It makes a sticky lightweight dust that commonly hangs up at the top of the divot. You have to stop bowing and with a knife make the dust drop down into the notch.
