Governor General Sir Colville Young has assented to the passage of that piece of law after the bill was initially tabled in the House of Representatives back in August. Just last week, the Senate met to debate the proposed legislation and a majority of those upper parliamentarians voted in favor of its approval. Despite belated concerns from the church, if you are a consumer of marijuana you can now possess up to ten grams at home or on your person and smoke freely in the confines of your private quarters. That’s according to Attorney General Michael Peyrefitte, who also says that it is still very much a crime to grow and retail marijuana. We’ll get to his response to the church’s objections a little later, but first the AG outlines the scope of the new law.
