Footage of a wild arrest and bullet-riddled cars emerged on Tuesday afternoon, with police now revealing officers foiled an alleged murder plot. “This was a calculated and co-ordinated intervention that stopped what we will allege was a planned killing nearby a daycare centre – a deeply concerning scenario,” Assistant Commissioner Scott Cook said in a statement. Police allege the trio charged - Kevin Mundine, 19, Greall Tighe, 18, and Tyrone Tuiluga Rio, 26 - were a “kill team”. A police spokesperson said they were identified as “mobilising to carry out an offence” by detectives carrying out routine surveillance on Tuesday. Tactical operations unit, dog squad, state intelligence command officers and the police helicopter all called in. About 3.50pm, two vehicles were stopped on The River Road in Revesby. Footage from road users stuck behind heavily armed police making the arrests show officers pointing their guns at the vehicle. Officers reportedly fired bean bag bounds - sacks which contain lead balls - during the operation. The two younger men were arrested from one car, and the 26-year-old in a second vehicle. “During a search of the cars, police located and seized two firearms, balaclavas, body-worn cameras, and jerry cans containing fuel,” the police spokesperson said in a statement. “A third firearm was located during subsequent searches of vehicles and premises allegedly linked to the men.” The younger men have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder, possess unauthorised pistol, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, participate in a criminal group and breach of bail. The 26-year-old has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder and participate in a criminal group. All three were denied bail and are expected to front Bankstown Local Court on Wednesday. “Police will allege the men were en route to attempt a hit on a man in the vicinity of a daycare centre in Sydney’s southwest,” the spokesperson said. Assistant Commissioner Cook said the arrests were a result of strong intelligence and precise surveillance. “These individuals were being watched, and we moved at the right moment,” he said. “Strike Force Flodine is part of State Crime Command’s broader strategy to dismantle organised crime networks operating across Sydney, and these arrests are that strategy in action. “We remain committed to protecting the community from serious and organised crime, especially when it threatens everyday spaces where families expect to feel safe.” Police are expected to provide more details later on Wednesday morning. Police swarmed on the Condell Park and Revesby areas as the incident unfolded. Officers descended on a black Mercedes on River Rd in Revesby, which was left with multiple bullet holes following the incident. Multiple lanes of the River Rd were closed during the operation, causing major delays along the busy M5 off-ramp. The operation ceased about 4.30pm following the arrest and River Rd was fully reopened by 5.30pm. At the time, police said there was no ongoing threat to the public, and no injuries had been reported.
