Keel off completely and visit to butterfly haven

Once the keel was lowered and the hull cleaned off a bit, it was obvious that the leak has been going on for sometime, years before we had Rosie. The surrounding fibreglass was damp and delaminated in a much larger area around the keel than we originally thought and the keel would have to come off completely to allow better access. Wikus marine got a forklift in to do the job and made a frame for the keel to sit on whilst repairing the hull. It was a very tense day, with lots of manoeuvring and shouting. The forklift would not fit under Rosie so the frame had to be modified so that it would go underneath, welded onto a sheet of steel and the keel was lifted out tied to it. Now work has started sanding the damaged parts of the hull back ready for fibreglassing. Meanwhile we had a day off and went to Anthony’s valley on the bus. Visited the brilliant butterfly haven and disappointing zoo (very small cages). It started to rain heavily as we walked back and we were taken pity on, sheltered in a lovely lady’s porch before she gave us a lift back to town to catch the bus.
