Mia Lopez, Curator of Latinx Art, and Tomás Ybarra-Frausto, Ph.D. walk us through Lopez's first McNay exhibition, "Rasquachismo: 35 Years of a Chicano Sensibility," which examines the legacy of Ybarra-Frausto’s pivotal 1989 essay celebrating the aesthetics of the working class and the underdog. Across the Lawson, Octagon, and Butt galleries, they discuss themes of resourcefulness, resilience, and cultural celebration at the heart of rasquachismo.
