Snowzilla — Snow in New Jersey in January — 2016

The snowiest months tend to be February and March in New Jersey, at least until 2018, since then we barely had any snow, merely dustings. In the 2000s and 2010s we used to have snow by the foot and were hammered mostly in Feb and March months. So I went back to my photo archive to show how it used to be. Then in January 2016 Snowzilla happened : Winter storm Jonas (that was around when they started naming the winter storms too) happened end of January 2016, on the 22-23, and was at once dubbed Snowzilla, you’ll see why in the pictures. It snowed continuously and heavily for more than 24 hours. My son had friends over (and their cars) on the Friday when it started to snow and they stayed 2 nights and 3 days before they could leave. We had to excavate the cars after cleaning the driveway and parking area. Monstrous storm and blizzard but not the worst, you’ll see as I go through February and March month that we had as bad or even worse storms and snow totals in one day or night over the 2000 and 2010s. Also share and comment to bring some positive attitude to the world ! in French/ en français : les mois les plus enneigés dans le New Jersey sont habituellement les mois de février et mars, du moins jusqu’en 2018 : depuis nous avons eu très peu de neige voire pas du tout, juste quelques maigres saupoudrages. Dans les années 2000 et 2010 nous avions des chutes de neige par 30cm voire 60cm pour chaque chute de neige et occasionnellement même plus. Nous étions littéralement engloutis par la neige spécialement en février et mars. Je suis donc allé chercher dans mon archive de photos toutes les photos de neige pour montrer comment c’était quand nous avions des tempêtes de neige. Puis en janvier 2016 il y a eu Snowzilla : tempête Jonas (c’est dans ces temps-là qu’on a commencé à nommer les tempêtes d’hiver / de neige aussi) le 22 et 23 janvier 2016. Aussitôt surnommée Snowzilla, vous verrez pourquoi dans les photos. Il a neigé en continu et fortement pendant plus de 24 heures. Mon fils avait des amis à la maison (et leurs voitures) le vendredi quand il a commencé à neiger et ils ont dû rester 2 nuits et 3 jours avant de pouvoir partir. Nous avons du excaver les voitures apres avoir nettoyé la driveway et le parking. Une tempera monstrueuse et du blizzard mais pas une des pires malgré tout, vous verrez quand je ferai les videos concernant les mois de février et mars, nous avons des tempêtes aussi terribles voire pire dans les années 2000 et 2010.
