I was originally planning on heading up to Scranton to attend Railfest 2016 at Steamtown today. However, it didn't seem like much interesting was at the park this year, and as much as I've been wanting to see Baldwin 26 in action, I chose not to go there this year. Instead, I made my way out to Kutztown, PA to pay my first visit to the Allentown & Auburn Railroad. On this day, the railroad was running special excursions with Pennsylvania Railroad 4666, a Doodlebug which was brought to the Allentown & Auburn earlier this year after spending several years inactive and stored in Ringoes with the Black River & Western Railroad. This was 4666's first time running in revenue service in well over a decade, and it made multiple trips between Kutztown and Topton throughout the day. I caught 4666 at a few different locations along the line, including the Kutztown station, Hinterleiter Road in Maxatawny, and both Kohler Road crossings. In addition to 4666, a special birthday train was also running from Kutztown to Topton. This train was using the railroad's normal excursion set, consisting of SW 206, Conrail caboose 21165, caboose 2414, an open-air car, and Pennsylvania Railroad caboose 478064. I wasn't able to see much of this train, but I did catch it leaving Kutztown, shoving past Hinterleiter Road, and reversing back into the station.
