Jessie the Yodelin’ Cowgirl | Song 040 - Beth Portman Sings

With Halloween just around the corner what better than throwing on a cowboy hat to sing as your favourite cartoon character! For song 040 in my 2021 song series of originals and covers with a vintage vibe I choose ‘Jessie the Yodelin’ Cowgirl’. This song was written by Ranger Doug of the country swing band, Riders of the Sky and appeared on the Grammy award winning children’s album Woody’s Round Up based on the characters from the Toy Story 2 characters. I love to yodel so this gave me the perfect excuse to embrace my inner cowgirl. I accompany myself on ukulele. The rhythm thump beat and brush sound are played on my vintage suitcase with a sock covered wooden spoon and beaded purse. Yeehaw!
