We live in a world with innumerable teachings, beliefs, doctrines, philosophies, views, opinions, ideas, and interpretations. If you are someone who desires to know “the truth,” all of this information that is constantly being fed to you can be challenging and confusing to navigate. It also doesn’t help that many teachers and groups among the many schools of thought all claim to have the “one and only truth” and then insist that you must also subscribe to their truth. Yet, there just so happens to be many different “one and only truths” presented by these teachers and groups that immensely contradict one another. So, who do we trust? Who do we listen to? What do we believe in? Which group, viewpoint, side, philosophy, doctrine, religion, church, or denomination do we join? Which pastor, teacher, guru, saint, sage, counselor, doctor, scientist, or “expert” do we follow? What if we’ve been asking all the wrong questions? What if we’ve been searching and seeking in all the wrong places? What if the one place we’ve been strictly advised not to look (within ourselves) is where we find exactly what we have been searching for? What if our hearts are not “sinful” and “wicked” but actually divine and intuitive? What if the guru we are trying to find behind a pulpit or in a cave in the Himalayas is hiding within the depths of our being? What if the “Spirit of Truth” isn’t found in books, buildings, doctrine, and dogma but actually within ourselves, and its job is to lead us into truth from the inside out, as Jesus said?
