Or let’s say with Sven, you’re regularly just keeping the enemies at bay so the carry can safely farm uninterrupted. Pugna has a pretty high attack range and movement speed, so he’s tough to outmaneuver if done well and the Nether Blast punishes anyone who tries to commit on him. With Nether Blast, you can even use it secure the range creep or use the Nether Ward to contest Lotus Pool so enemies heal you if they try to commit on you, again thanks to Siphonign Ward.
