S-Video is better than Composite: here's why

S-Video cables provide better video image quality than Composite cable because S-Video cables have separate wires for the black and white signal, and the color signal. With Composite cables, there is only one wire and the black and white, and color signal travel together. This is not ideal and can cause visual artifacts. These artifacts can be partially fixed using a hardware (or software) comb filter. But one should always try to avoid a problem by using the right hardware, instead of cleaning up the problem.
