While Battle Sprites indeed weren't a thing back then, neither was Vanaduke's large health we have today. Once Battle Sprites were implemented, his overall health was increased to compensate for their abilities. Doing what they did without the Battle Sprites is impossible. As they're a mandatory tool to duplicate the damage dealt to the boss. Thusly we had to incorporate sprite buffs along with new methods, since this big boy won't go down to just two normal Blitz charges a person anymore.
