The MRT Kajang Line, previously known as the Sungai Buloh–Kajang Line, is a Mass Rapid Transit Line servicing the Klang Valley, Malaysia. It is the second fully automated and driverless rail system in the Klang Valley region after the LRT Kelana Jaya Line. The Line is numbered 9 and coloured Green on official transit maps. MRT Kajang Line is the first MRT line of the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit Project. The MRT Kajang Line is a part of the larger rail transport system in Kuala Lumpur known as the Klang Valley Integrated Transit System. The MRT Kajang Line covers a span of 47 kilometres from Kwasa Damansara to Kajang, passing the Kuala Lumpur city centre where the alignment goes underground. Total journey time is 1 hour 28 minutes but at times could be shorten to 1 hour 12 minutes. The MRT Kajang Line has 29 stations of which 7 are underground stations and 22 are elevated stations. The MRT Line runs underground for a distance of 9.5 km beneath the centre of Kuala Lumpur. The balance 37.5 km is elevated. The MRT Kajang Line serves a corridor with 1.2 million residents within the Klang Valley region from the northwest to the southeast of Kuala Lumpur. The MRT Kajang Line starts from Kwasa Damansara which is located to the northwest of Kuala Lumpur, and runs on an elevated guideway to Semantan. It continues in twin-bore tunnels underground to the Maluri, passing through the city centre of Kuala Lumpur. The interchanges from MRT Kajang Line to other lines are provided from Muzium Negara to Maluri with the exception of Cochrane station in Kuala Lumpur. The Line resurfaces to the elevated platform at Taman Pertama, then it passes through Cheras and ends in Kajang via an elevated guideway. The Phase 1 of the MRT Kajang Line from Sungai Buloh MRT station to Semantan MRT station began operations on 16 December 2016. The Phase 2, from Semantan MRT Station to Kajang MRT Station started its operations on 17 July 2017, allowing trains to run the entire alignment. With the launch of MRT Putrajaya Line in 2022, two stations that were previously under the Kajang Line have been moved to the Putrajaya Line, namely Sungai Buloh MRT Station and Kampung Selamat MRT Station. Kwasa Damansara MRT Station is now the terminal station for both the MRT Kajang and Putrajaya Lines. Kwasa Damansara provides a cross-platform interchange between the MRT Kajang Line and the MRT Putrajaya Line. The MRT Kajang Line rolling stock is manufactured by Siemens/CSR Nanjing Puzhen in a partnership with SMH Rail Consortium Sdn Bhd. The Siemen Inspiro trains are driverless with a capacity of 1,200 passengers in a 4-car trainsets formation. The maximum train speed is 100 km/h.
