My father in law has his own business and as a result he has been dealing with China for like 20 years. And lately we all have been hearing how China tourism was starting to be a thing so my wife asked him if it was alright to tag along with him and he was cool about it as long as we let him do his deals and all. And like most business owners who have deals with China they all go to Guangzhou. TBH I was against this trip in fact I told them to count me out as I have zero interest in China especially after visiting Japan. It is not like we are going to visit Shanghai where the life size Strike Gundam is located or going to visit Hong Kong the capital of collectors. I even did some research on Guangzhou and it turned out it is not gunpla friendly at all so I knew I wouldn't enjoy my time over there. But I didn’t have a choice and to go on a family trip vacation. I didn’t expect much from China but I have to say I was impressed from what I saw. Guangzhou was really modern and busy but not crowded with a lot of malls or at least the area we stayed at was. This was heaven for my family as there were malls all around us and they couldn't have enough of them and to make it worse my uncle left them (his two daughters and grandchildren) all in my care to attend his deals. But it wasn’t that bad since sometimes we do come across a toy store or shops that have toy sections and they would have gunpla in them as it was popular over there. They have good gunpla kit varieties but the problem is that I’ve seen them all and it was hard to impress me but I did end up getting a few kits and other stuff. But my main goal was to find Motor Nuclear kits as it is a Chinese company and I was there in their territory but I couldn’t find any So I asked one of the young staff about where I can find the Motor Nuclear kits and he surprised me when he said I won’t find their kits anywhere. He explained that they don’t have a physical store and they don’t distribute their kits like Bandia do so I have to order them online. This caught me off guard because when I did my research I saw a video of a physical store in their main headquarters in Shanghai where they sell their kits but it seems that’s about it. So I visited Motor Nuclear's official website only to discover that they don’t directly sell their model kits to the customers. If you want their kits they redirect you to another website and it was Taobao.com. I heard about that website before because I asked a Chinese builder and he is an electrical wizard work on this builds to teach me his technique and he did and even told me where to get the supplies and it was from Taobao.com so I made an account but didn’t order anything since I was afraid I would blow it as everything was in Chinese. But since I already have an account and I was actually in China and I really was to get kits from Motor Nuclear I decided to go for it. I believe Taobao.com is like a Chinese version of Amazon.com you can find anything over there but as I said the main problem was the language barrier. But I found a solution for that as I went to the hotel receptionist and they all spoke English and were super friendly (it was a five-star hotel) and asked for their assistance to teach me how to order from Taobao.com. After I made the first few orders with the hotel receptionist I figured out my way around and I started to use Google Translate to get over the language barrier. And that’s when the flood gates were open as I started to order like crazy since I don’t have to search for gunpla kits on foot anymore. I would tag along with my family while they shop on foot and I would shop on my phone and my items would be delivered to the hotel in a few days. In fact 80% of my purchases on this trip was from Taobao.com. In fact I discovered that there were few items that I ordered that would arrive late and I would be back home so I took the risk and added my home address and they did arrive at my doorstep so now I have access to the Chinese market. That’s why this trip video is short but I will list the places I visited for those who want to go gunpla shopping in a physical store. As I said they were all toy stores or shops with toy sections because I didn’t come across any gunpla shop over there but still it was nice to see gunpla on shelves. 1. Grandview Mall: Grandview Mall 2. Kidsland, Kangti Shopping Mall: 御都青鸟健身 3. XR Toys, Tianhe District: Tianhe District
