Joanie Sommers began her eight year run of singles for Warner Brothers in 1960 at age nineteen. Her first single, "Kookie's Love Song," was a duet with Edward "Kookie" Burns, the star of the TV show 77 Sunset Strip. Working with Jimmie Haskell as song arranger, Joanie recorded several songs with Leon Russell as pianist. From an April 28, 1964 session that ran into a half-hour of overtime, here is "If You Love Him." Bobby Darin wrote it and his T.M. Music published it. Haskell was also the producer and had Tommy Tedesco, Neil Levang and Ray Pohlman on guitars, Lyle Ritz on bass, Julius Wechter on mallets and tympani, and Leon on piano. There was also a dozen-member orchestra of strings and horns led by Benjamin Barrett. "If You Love Him" was in the film The Lively Set, and was put on a Warner single (5454) opposite "I Think I'm Gonna Cry Now" recorded the same session.
