Police Arrest Man After Starting A Family Fight On Party Boat

On July 5, 2024, officers were patrolling the Destin Harbor and heard a distress call over marine VHF channel 16 about a fight on a rental pontoon. The captain of the vessel, [redacted], called for assistance after an altercation involving the defendant, Mr. [redacted]. It was reported that Mr. [redacted] had become belligerent after losing his wedding ring and started yelling at his wife, [redacted], and other passengers on the vessel. Witnesses on the boat described Mr. [redacted] grabbing and pushing his wife into the vessel. They also reported that after a verbal altercation, Mr. [redacted] fought with [redacted] and other passengers. Photos attached to the report show a red mark on the victim's head. The defendant appeared intoxicated with slurred speech, poor balance, and a strong odor of alcohol. The defendant, Mr. [redacted], was arrested for battery (domestic ) and taken to Okaloosa County Jail. A victim rights packet was provided to the victim. All involved parties were interviewed, and the events were captured on body camera.
