In September 2024, Palau hosted a significant meeting of Pacific sports leaders to determine future venues for major regional events, including the Pacific Games and Pacific Mini Games. During this gathering, a group of young Palauan reporters, trained by The Reporters' Academy, produced a short film capturing the perspectives of delegates on the upcoming 2025 Pacific Mini Games in Palau. This film, created within 24 hours, was showcased at the Pacific Games Council meeting, allowing delegates to reflect on their shared aspirations and the anticipated benefits of hosting the Games. The 2025 Pacific Mini Games are scheduled to take place from June 29 to July 9, 2025, in Koror, Palau. The event will feature over 1,500 athletes from 24 nations competing in 12 sports, including baseball, weightlifting, beach volleyball, and wrestling. Hosting the Games is expected to provide Palau with lasting benefits, such as upgraded sports facilities, increased tourism, and enhanced youth engagement in sports.
