In the heart of South Africa, Ukutula Conservation Center combines wildlife protection, lodge accommodation, and scientific research on felines. Between unforgettable walks with lions, bottle-raised lions, and African biodiversity, I discovered a unique and committed place. ---------------------------- 🌍 Multilingual version (audio & subtitles) available on my other channel : • Ukutula Lodge : safaris, lions et recherch... ----- 🔔 Subscribe to my YouTube channel: / @ TravelwithGillesus?sub_confirmation=1 ------------------------- 🎥 More videos on the subject: ▶️ • Safari in Sabi Sand: Big Five in the heart... ▶️ • Blyde River Canyon: spectacular landscapes... ----------------------- ⏱️ Find your way around the video, the key moments at a glance: 00:00 Ukutula Conservation Center. 00:27 Animals at the Center, Lioness, Leopard, Cheetah. 01:20 Walk with the lions. 2:27 Ukutula Lodge & Game Reserve. -------------------------- I spent a few days in a place I will never forget: Ukutula Conservation Center & Lodge, an animal sanctuary like no other, located about a two-hour drive from Johannesburg, South Africa. Nestled in the bush, this site combines accommodation, privileged contact with the animals, and cutting-edge scientific work. But Ukutula is not just a lodge. It is first and foremost a conservation center, specializing in large carnivores, and in particular white lions and Transvaal lions. Here, priority is given to preserving the genetics of the species, thanks to an internationally recognized genomics research center. Veterinarians, biologists, and researchers from around the world collaborate there. What makes the experience even more exceptional is the opportunity to attend educational sessions, approach certain animals safely, and even learn more about the breeding program for young orphaned lions. The activities offered go well beyond a classic safari: guided walks in the reserve, supervised interactions with certain animals, laboratory visits, and detailed explanations on the reintroduction and genetic preservation programs. The welcome at the lodge is warm, the restaurant offers South African cuisine, and everything operates within a sustainable tourism approach, respectful of the animals and the environment.
