Marco Rubio’s call to Ishaq Dar timed with the arrival of Eric Meyer delegation has shocked many Pakistanis. They are bound to feel that Trump administration has embraced Generals and betrayed Imran Khan and Pakistani Americans. But I argue that it was unrealistic to expect that Pakistani Americans can place an embargo on State Department’s engagement with Pakistan. And these unrealistic expectations were produced by unprofessional commentaries by lay press. Pakistani Americans need more professional engagement with the political system in the United States and western countries.
