A swinging tune from the 1927 musical by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart, "A Connecticut Yankee," based on Mark Twain's novel, "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court." The lyrics are Hart at his best (he believed that lyrics could be written with the same taste that went into a good poem). Rodgers and Hart changed the status quo of musicals from being comedic variety shows and instead tied their shows to a book, where every song is an integral part of the story. I love this tune and wanted to post my stride piano version of it on our channel.
