Batu Caves: Climbing the World's Most Colorful Steps

Walking Up The Steps of Batu Caves For those of you who have not had the opportunity to visit the Batu Caves in Kuala Lumpur, watch this virtual walk up the 272 colourful steps (whilst avoiding attacks from the infamous monkeys (long-tailed macaques) along the way! 🐒) and explore the Temple Cave and marvel at its stunning rock formations. We start by at the foot of the hill watching the pigeons and as we walk towards the steps, we are greeted by the imposing gold statue of Lord Murugan, which at 42.7 meters (140 ft), is the tallest statute in Malaysia. The Batu Caves is the focal point of the annual Hindu festival of Thaipusam which attracts thousands of devotees. This video was taken a day before the MCO 2.0 (Movement Control Order / Lockdown) in Malaysia. Thaipusam 2021 will indeed be a more subdued affair compared to previous years.
