#stocktonhistory #historyhunters #californiahistory Take a tour with Jeff as he shows you where and tells you about the grand 1890s Stockton Jail built by the no-nonsense Sheriff Thomas Cunningham in Stockton, Calif. The jail was torn down in 1961 and the violent criminals are now housed in a county jail located out of town. Jeff will also tell you about the time San Francisco newspaper reporter Pierre Salinger intentionally got arrested so that he could experience the jail first hand to report about deplorable conditions inside. He will also take you to where another brick jail was constructed in Stockton and also torn down. The fourth site to be shown is the old Hotel Stockton where John Wayne once stayed and where Broderick Crawford, John Ireland and Mercedes McCambridge filmed the 1946 movie, "All the King's Men." Lastly, he's visit the grave of Sheriff Cunningham in the Stockton Rural Cemetery. Please also check out our other numerous videos under the video tab. We always are grateful when folks reach out and ask how they can financially support our channel. The best way would be via Venmo @History-Hunters.
